Before proceeding to the steps

You need to understand in terms of Partition(PT) and Calling Search Space(CSS) in the system,

Briefly, A partition equals to Directory numbers(Which means it can be numbers, Route Patterns, Translation Patterns and more) so CSS is like an address book. CSS will see what partitions are included and will make a call accordingly.

Quiz)

2 Users wants make call each other. 1 user located in Sydney and 1 user located in Perth.

Created 2 directory numbers and linked with PT-Internal

Created 1 Calling Search Space for 2 users, CSS-Internal

In this case, what will be the last step to accomplish above task?

Answer is, CSS-Internal must include PT-Internal so now they can make a call each other. If you've fully understood a concept of PT and CSS, it is very easy to set up Calling Privileges.

Best Use Case for Calling Privileges is following as;

  • Restriction based on department - For example, Marketing Team only can make calls nationally and Sales Team can make calls internationally
  • Allowed Individuals - Only executive members can make calls internationally and the others can only make calls nationally.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to CUCM
  2. Navigate Call Routing > Directory Number
  3. Find the particular Directory Number
  4. Under Directory Number Settings, change the Calling Search Space to the appropriate value and Save

<Additional Steps for only allowed individuals>

  1. Navigate to Call Routing > Forced Authorization Codes > Create New > Save

        2. Navigate to Call Routing > Class of Control > Partition > Add New

        3. Navigate to Call Routing > Class of Control > Calling Search Space > Add New > Must include the PT that you created on step 2, internal and national

        4. Navigate to Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Route Pattern > Add New > See below > Save

        5. Make sure enable Require Forced Authorization Code

        6. Repeat Step2-4 in first stage.
